Volunteer Opportunities

Cocheco River Clean Up

Date: April 6, Rain dates April 7 or 13

Location: Rochester, NH - 11 Wilson St.

Start time: 8 AM sharp!

The GBTU is assisting the Rochester Conservation Commission RCC.

RCC has coordinated the clean-up with landowners. Please be aware that this is a steep section of the river bank and a human chain will be set up to move collected trash from the river to the road. Some volunteers will be working at/in water level (if water conditions are safe).

Waders recommended, if you want this duty.

Volunteers should bring sturdy boots, protective equipment – hat, gloves, safety eyewear, long sleeve shirts, long pants. Also recommended, sunscreen, bug spray, sunglasses, snacks/lunch/ water for hydration.

There is a special project planned – refrigerator dismantling and removal.

The refrigerator is stuck on the side of the bank, not to believed that it is in the water.  Any one with skills and tools should contact Jake with a proposed plan.

Volunteer River Assessment Program (VRAP) –

coming to a river near you!
GBTU has been selected as the ISG crew – Isinglass Watershed – an ongoing program!

This is a NH Department of Environmental Services program to monitor water quality in state waters.  Equipment is provided by the state to monitor pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and conductivity.  We will need to have a volunteer crew of 4-8 members for monthly sampling on the Isinglass River and tributaries.

Learn more about a local watershed and maybe get some fishing time as well.

Please click here to sign up for the Isinglass Watershed VRAP.

Contact Jake Reynold at jake.reynolds@comcast.net to volunteer.
